Kaamos is a Mac menu bar app from áddet. It tints the display on the computer you use. It does not create an account or talk to áddet’s servers.

Location

If you turn on Use location, Kaamos asks macOS for approximate location so Auto can use real sunrise and sunset for where you are (including polar day and kaamos). Coordinates are used on this Mac to compute those times and an on-screen place label. They are not uploaded, synced, or shared with áddet or any third party. Location is optional; you can set sunrise and sunset by dragging the markers instead.

Turning the feature off stops location updates. Uninstalling the app removes its sandbox container; preferences may remain until you delete Kaamos’s container.

What Kaamos stores

Tint settings (on/off, colour, Auto, sun times, open at login) are saved in the app’s local preferences on your Mac. Kaamos does not keep a GPS trail.

What Kaamos does not do

Kaamos does not create an account, sync to iCloud or any other service, upload settings, or send analytics. There is no Kaamos cloud. Screen colour is applied on-device with system display APIs.

Permissions

macOS may ask for Location when you enable Use location. The system dialog is the grant step. You can change this later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Purchases

If you buy Kaamos on the Mac App Store, Apple processes payment under Apple Media Services terms. Kaamos itself does not receive your card details.

This website

The Kaamos marketing site is static. It does not use accounts or a product analytics backend. Your browser may still send normal request logs to the host that serves the pages.
